FUNCTION OF RTA KARACHI

• The Regional Transport Authority is an Authority established by Government and notified in the official gazette under the provisions of Section 46 of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance,
• Headed by the Commissioner of the division as Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority comprising of number of officers as members of the Regional Transport Authority Board.

CRITERIA FOR ISSUANCE OF (NOC)

Criteria of issuance of letter of intent (NOC) for registration / fitness certificate of the vehicle: -

• Application of the applicant under provisions of Motor
  Vehicles Ordinance, 1965.
•  Copies of documents of the vehicle. (Invoice, Sales
  Certificate)
•  Copy of CNIC of owner / letter of the company.
• Affidavit.

On provision of copies of Registration Certificate (Mandatory) and Fitness Certificate (If required), the vehicle is issued permits accordingly.

Issuance of route permits and its renewal and transfer / Cancel NOC

 Public Carrier (Goods Vehicles i.e. Suzuki Pickup, Oil Tanker, Water Tanker, Trucks)
 Private Carrier (Goods Vehicles i.e. Suzuki Pickup, Oil Tanker, Water Tanker, Trucks

PROCEDURE FOR CLASSIFICATION OF ROUTE FOR STAGE CARRIAGES 

Buses, Mini Buses and Special Coaches
 Application from operator
 Advertisement in leading news papers i.e. English Urdu & Sindhi for seeking objection in any from interested likely to be affected with in stipulated period not less than 15 days
 Deputy Inspector General of Police, Traffic and Senior Director, Traffic Engineering Bureau, Karachi Development Authority, Karachi from traffic point of view are requested for.
 On receipt of such reports, the proposal for classification of routes, subsequently placed before the RTA Board in its meeting for discussion and finalization

DESCRIPTION OF STANDS

MOTOR VEHICLE RULES - 1969

•Rule 253.— Notification of Stands

• Class -A (Stands, being General Stands administered by officials of
  Government).
• Class-B (Stands, being General Stands entrusted for management, under arrangement made by Regional Transport Authority, to a person or company.)
• Class-C (Stands, being General Stands administered by City District Government, a Town Municipal Administration or a Tehsil Municipal Administration or through the
  agency of a contractor.)
• Class-D (Stands, or company Stands.)

GOODS FORWARDING AGENCY LICENCE

MOTOR VEHICLE RULES-1969

Under Rule 254 & 257 —Place to be used forloading, unloading or halting of public carriers
& Conditions governing the location of stands for goods vehicles.

• Issuance of Goods Forwarding Agency License and subsequent renewal.
• Goods Transport Vehicles

• Checking against the fitness certificate by traffic police minimum 5 vehicles at SO level to be impounded

  RTA / DRTA
•  This campaign should be maximum 15 days continuously
