Muhammad Akhtar Ghori is a BS-20 Officer of Provincial Secretariai Service Cadre. Known for his quick disposal of assignments and profound acquaintance with prescribed procedures of official business, he has served being Secretary to Governor Sindh, Special Secretary Home, Chairman of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, and held such other important positions during his 30 years of service for Government of Sindh.
The Transport & Mass Transport Department, Government of Sindh, with its all available resources and delegated mandate, is committed to play its role in resolving the existing traffic issues with certain planned short and long terms measures Under the valued guidance of Chief Minister Sindh and Minister for Transport & Mass Transport, and with the cooperation of all line departments particularly Traffic Police, district administration and attached institutions of Transport and Mass Transit Department, the all out efforts are underway for combating and resolving the existing multiple and multi-facets traffic problems in the best soluble manner.
I have firm understanding that like every developed country, a well-planned integrated mass transportation mechanism has become the need of the time. A standardized public transport system, on one hand, facilitate galore the common man in travelling from one place to another, on the other hand it also significantly saves precious energy, time and multiple resources. I am optimistic that completion of under-progress Sindh Bus Rapid Transport Projects shall contribute a lot in minimizing traffic congestion, increasing fuel efficiency, reducing air pollution and much more apart from the primary objective of presenting easy, fast and safer mode of travelling to people.
I assure people of Province that in light of vision of Government of Sindh, Transport and Mass Transit Department will continue to serve with best of its resources and strength.
Rapid population growth is causing serious strain on all civic and municipal services including transport sector.
To provide safe, reliable, comfortable and affordable means of transportation to travelling public of the province by creating enabling environment for private investment in the sector leading towards development and prosperity.
Proper regulation of public transport through implementation of motor vehicle laws.
Encourage private sector to bring more investment in the transport sector by providing incentives.
Initiate public sector schemes and programs where private investment is slow or not forth coming so that safe, reliable, comfortable and affordable transport is available to public.
