MINISTER'S MESSAGE:

The Transport & Mass Transport Department, Government of Sindh, with its all available resources and delegated mandate, is committed to play its role in resolving the existing traffic issues with certain planned short and long terms measures Under the valued guidance of Chief Minister Sindh and Minister for Transport & Mass Transport, and with the cooperation of all line departments particularly Traffic Police, district administration and attached institutions of Transport and Mass Transit Department, the all-out efforts are underway for combating and resolving the existing multiple and multi-facets traffic problems in the best soluble manner.
 
I have firm understanding that like every developed country, a well-planned integrated mass transportation mechanism has become the need of the time. A standardized public transport system, on one hand, facilitate galore the common man in travelling from one place to another, on the other hand it also significantly saves precious energy, time and multiple resources. I am optimistic that completion of under-progress Sindh Bus Rapid Transport Projects shall contribute a lot in minimizing traffic congestion, increasing fuel efficiency, reducing air pollution and much more apart from the primary objective of presenting easy, fast and safer mode of travelling to people.
I assure people of Province that in light of vision of Government of Sindh, Transport and Mass Transit Department will continue to serve with best of its resources and strength.
 

SECRETARY'S MESSAGE:

The Government of Sindh is working on BRT Corridor and the KCR, unlike the Metro system in Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar or even other major cities of south Asia, where there are single BRT Corridor whereas the GOS is developing a holistic Mass Transit System. The system is being developed by integrating the main components including the Infrastructure, Bus Operations, the automated fare collection system, fleet management and the command and control center.
 
The sustainable Urban Transport Policy has been developed and the document will soon be placed before the provincial cabinet for approval. Besides efforts are underway for operation of Buses and Mini Buses for which the Government has lifted on registration and issuance of permit on Mini Buses to encourage operators. A part of that modern terminal has been developed and further projects are in hand.
 
The working of Transport Authorities and Motor Vehicle examination system is being reviewed, re-aligned on the basis of present scenario, need and in line with the best practices and system adopted nationally to get the transportation system more effective.
 
Due to above efforts and after development and operation of Mass Transit System, there will be considerable improvement in transport sector including economical and social impacts.
